With summer in full swing, what better way to kick off summer with a makeover.  With that being said, we decided to give our beloved Lavender Love bath bar a well overdue makeover.  What’s so special about the NEW Lavender Love bath bar you ask? Well, we’ve included oatmeal.

Now, don’t underestimate the power of oatmeal; it’s an ancient skin care remedy that has been in use dating back to 2000 B.C.  Oatmeal has been used to treat and soothe various skin conditions including chickenpox, insect bites, dry skin, dermatitis and allergic reactions.  Oatmeal also works to gently buff away dead skin cells leaving skin feel soft and with a natural glow.

This natural super food used all over the world, not only helps lower cholesterol in the body, but the fats found in oatmeal can act as an emollient which is perfect for dry skin.  Oatmeal is also rich in antioxidants that can help to protect the skin against free radical damage.

3 Main Reasons Why Oatmeal is Awesome

1.  Naturally Cleansing -  Saponins found in oatmeal are natural cleansers that gently work to wash away dirt, oils and debris.

2.  Moisture – Oatmeal contains fats and polysaccharids which are responsible for skin’s natural ability to retain and absorb moisture.  In water, polysaccharides, becomes gelatinous creating a protective film over the skin.  When skin is able to retain moisture this is vital for skin repair and skin cell renewal.

3. Protective – Oatmeal contains protein that act as natural barriers that protect from environmental toxins and impurities.

As much as I enjoy talking about oatmeal, we can’t discuss our Lavender Love bath bar without discussing the main ingredient, lavender.  The benefits of lavender are endless.  This flower is known for it’s beautiful color, and it’s therapeutic fragrance has been known to help induce sleep, aid digestion, prevent hair loss and even cure headaches. When used in skincare products, lavender helps boost circulation which results in increased oxygen and nutrients to skin cells.  Since lavender is anti-fungal and anti-bacterial this beautifully scented herb also helps to treat wounds,  scrapes and infections.  Because of it’s anti-microbial properties, lavender has been used to treat and soothe skin conditions such as eczema, insect bites, and also helps to reduce swelling and inflammation of acne.

It’s gentle enough to use on a babies delicate skin, yet powerful enough to treat skin irritations.  To learn more about our Lavender Love bath bar click here.
