Last spring, I meet to Andrea at a mutual friend's bachelorette party. In between girl chat and drinks, Drea asked me about what I did and that's when I learned about her battle trying to find skin care products sensitive enough for her skin type. In addition to being an awesome and passionate Music Director she has a very interesting story that so many people can relate to especially since so many consumers are suffering from chemical sensitivity and allergic reactions to skin and bath products. I had to share her story.

I am a 33 year old wife, mother, and educator. I have battled with sensitive skin my entire life. Often having what I thought were "breakouts" , were actually severe dermatitis due to allergic reactions to topical ingredients ( face soaps, make-up, sunscreen). Years of thinking I had acne, taking birth control pills to correct the acne, retinol products, , not drinking caffeine, not eating fried food. I still would never have clear skin. Finally in 2012, I started doing my own research and found out that many people suffered this kind of skin issue and had found changing their skin care lines and diet, they began to have great skin. In the Spring of 2012 I was finally allergy tested, and out of the 75 skin patches I had on my back.... 65 came back positive for an allergy. Things like fragrances, dyes, iodine, nickel, dimethicone, sulfate, preservatives. After trying to cut out so many of these things (check your labels, these are in 90% of all american food and cosmetic products), every once in a while I would still, "breakout". I was still missing something!!!
The final major allergy that came forward was after living in London for 2 months in 2012. I suddenly had no skin issues and didn't wear a drop of makeup. Why now? What changed? So, I started to find out what was so different about American food and European food. High Fructose Corn Syrup and sorbates/preservatives. When I came home and researched high fructose corn syrup I was alarmed. How could we put this into our food system when it has been linked to cancer and obesity and even more troubling was how could Coca Cola make the same product in Europe with vegetable oil but in the US, High fructose corn syrup? They weren't the only company that made two different products, Hershey, Nestle, Frito Lay. I am not sure if you realize that High Fructose corn syrup is in Peanut Butter, Jelly, Bread, Chocolate, drinks, ketchup, chips, graham crackers, salad dressings.... it is insane and often hard to avoid. Especially; if you go to someone else's house for dinner or a restaurant.
My family and I now only eats foods that have 5 or less ingredients in them and nothing with high fructose corn syrup comes in the home. We basically eat meat, fish, vegetables and fruits. If we have bread products or desserts, they are homemade and usually organic. As a result, I have a lot more energy and my skin is much better. I made almost all of my son's food (which was an awesome process to know what he was getting was as pure as it could get), switched to almond and coconut milk after reading about the dyes in milk. Changed my laundry detergent, home cleaning products, and now my complete skin care line. It has been a very positive experience.
Jacq's Organics was my missing link. An affordable, quality made product that didn't burn my skin when applied didn't make me "break out". It was so natural I was comfortable putting it on my son. My fine lines around my eyes appear much less (thank you Sweet Orange Shea butter). My blackheads have been reduced by the Fancy Detox Cleansing soap, and my every day oil is the Carrot con Leche Serum, which gives me a glow. I look forward to trying more Jacq's Organics products as I continue to explore what works best for me.
Thank you so very much Andrea for sharing your story and experience. Do you have an awesome story or know someone with a similar story. We'd love to hear from you. Please email email@example.com.
