While the Ancient Romans were using massage oils to scrap sweat and dirt from their skin as a method of cleansing in public bath houses, the Egyptian were crafting soaps by combining fats and vegetable oils with alkaline salts. Soap making goes back thousands of years, today the process is a little different and I'd like to think the soaps we use are a little bit more moisturizing as well.
At Jacq's Organics we like to use ingredients like fresh organic herbs, fresh produce, aloe vera and even jasmine rice to help nourish skin with vitamins, nutrients and antioxidants to leave skin feel soft and moisturized. We combine olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, sodium hydroxide and aloe juice to create creamy liquid soap. After pouring the raw soap into a mold, it sits for 24-48 hours to allow the sodium hydroxide and water to evaporate and neutralize the lye or sodium hydroxide.
Curing is the final process of saponification. This is when the most of the water in the soap evaporates. You can use the soap bar but it wouldn't last that long in the shower. After a couple weeks of curing, basically sitting on the shelf, the soap bars become harder, milder and producing rich bubbles. We then hand wrap each soap bar in recycled paper and they are ready to use. Today, we're highlighting our Carrot con Leche Cleansing Bars. In addition to using organic and natural oils, fresh carrots and aloe vera in every batch we're happy to say, we've made this cleansing bar 100% vegan, gluten-free and GMO-free. I constantly receive questions regarding acne, hyper-pigmentation and anti-aging. Well, here's a duel action cleanser for all three concerns.
Carrots - Carrots are rich in beta-carotene, antioxidants but it's also has healing properties which makes it an ideal ingredient for skin types including sensitive, acne-prone skin, aging, chronic skin irritations and skin rashes.
Aloe - You've already heard that aloe vera is hydrating, healing, softening, antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory. But, did you know it contains amino acids, polysaccharides and minerals that all work together to penetrate skin below the cellular layer to help skin retain or restore moisture. This is why is great for wounds, dry skin and skin ailments.
Rice milk - For centuries, Japanese women having been using rice milk as their secret beauty ingredient for to help stimulate cell growth, cell repair and to maintain a glowing skin complexion. The brown jasmine rice we used in is imported from Thailand and is a great source of vitamin A, vitamin B, antioxidants and beta-carotene. Vitamin A helps to improve skins texture and provided anti-aging benefits. We've replaced traditional organic milk with jasmine rice milk that we make in house for each batch. We also rely on the power of mother nature by infusing sweet almond oil with basil and a proprietary blend of herbs to help nourish and treat skin.
