The 3 Way Face Cleanser

Cleansing may be one of the most crucial part of the skin care regimen. It's true that one of the best kept secrets to great skin care all lies in face cleansing. But, I also bet you didn't know that you can actually create a customized face cleanser using our Rosemary and Lime Face Cleanser to work 3 ways.

It's obvious that our Rosemary and Lime Face Cleanser works great for the face and it smells delicious, but did you know that you can also use it to clean your makeup brushes or use it a milk cleanser or even create your own face scrub just by adding simple ingredients found in your cabinet.

Yep, you add soy, rice or almond milk to create a milk cleanser. Rice contains ferulic acid an antioxidant and allantoin an a really great anti-inflammatory agent that helps to soothe sunburns and also promotes the skin cell repair. Or you can add corn flour or wheat germ to create a morning exfoliating cleansing scrub before heading out the door.

Here's a bonus, we've also shared a simple D.I.Y. recipe that I personally use to clean my makeup brushes using the Rosemary and Lime Face Cleanser. To help simplify the process we've created a short list of ingredients you can add to the cleanser to enhance your experience.

1. The Versatile Cleanser

TIP: Avoid adding in additives like brown sugar as this may be a bit abrasive on your skin.

2. Makeup Brush Cleanser

(*The recipe amount may vary depending on the amount of makeup brushes you have to clean.)

Here are a few helpful tips when it comes to cleaning your makeup brushes.

  • Do NOT soak your brushes. Glue holds the brush bristle to the handle so soaking the brushes over time will loosen the glue and eventually the bristles will separate from the handle. It's not fun having the top part of your makeup brush fall right off right in the middle of you putting on your makeup.
  • Using an oil to cleanse your brushes ensures that bristles are not stiff or hard after washing.
  • Reshaping your brush bristles after cleansing ensures the bristle do not dry in the wrong direction. Imagine putting on your makeup and you have bristle flying in all directions.

"Cleansing may be one the most crucial part of the skin care regimen."

Step 1. Pour 1 teaspoon of oil, one teaspoon of water and 1 teaspoon of the Rosemary and Lime Face Cleanser on to the plate.

Step 2. Swirl the makeup brush on the mixture and watch the brush gradually release the makeup from the brush bristle. Swirl, swirl and swirl for about 30 seconds to 60 seconds.

Step 3. Rinse until the water runs clear. Repeat until makeup brush bristles are all clean.

Step 4. Pat dry, reshape your bristles and lay flat to dry on a separate towel.

3. Exfoliating Cleanser

  • Wheat germ
  • Finely grounded Polenta
  • Almond Meal
  • Rice flour
  • Corn flour

Using additives like bamboo charcoal or even rice flour helps you customize the product specifically for your skin type. Be sure to share your customized recipes below or on Instagram.

I really like this. This is a great idea. I’m going to add some almond milk to my cleanser. Thanks for sharing this.
